Sometimes you just can’t afford to drop big money on a cornhole set (<– this is a link to one of my personal favorite cornhole boards… but they are expensive).
You don’t want to spend the big money on a top quality cornhole board…you just want an inexpensive board that works! And while the title of the post says “cheap”, the boards we are going to look at are going to be a little more on the quality side.
It’s probably better to say that these boards are inexpensive boards with decent quality.
I’ll also call out a couple of boards that are down right cheap – poor quality – that you should probably steer clear of.
So, this post is targeted at those folks with a budget, who don’t plan on spending over $100 to start enjoying the game of cornhole (aka bean bag toss).
OK, Mr or Mrs Frugal…dump out your penny jar (aka The Kids College Fund), it’s time to buy a cornhole set!
If you really wanted to save money, and you are handy (even better if your are ‘two handy’) and own some wood working tools, you can build your own boards. Keep in mind, that if you are going to have to purchase all new materials for your boards, plan on investing at least $50.
The most inexpensive set you are going to find in this review is about $100. So you have to ask yourself…is acquiring, cutting, assembling and finishing your cornhole boards worth saving $50??? Or would you rather spend $50 more and get to play sooner and save yourself some splinters?
And don’t get me wrong. My first boards were homemade from scrap wood…and I loved them!
In the future I will provide some plans and advice on building your own boards.
But for now, let’s take a look at those cheap (inexpensive) cornhole boards!
Amazon
You are going to find a lot of inexpensive deals over at Amazon so there is where we are going to start!
And if you have Amazon Prime, even better as you won’t have to pay for shipping (in most cases that is. There are some suppliers that do not offer Prime.)
I’m only going to highlight those boards that have a Prime options as it will save you a ton of money on shipping. Money that could be better used on some additional bags or a score board.
F2C Portable Aluminum Cornhole Set
This first set we are going to look at from Amazon is not what “wood” be considered to be a traditional cornhole set. (You see the pun I made there?).
The reason is that these boards are made from aluminum. And for what they lack in traditionally (I think that is a word), they make up for with a couple of key features:
- UV-resistant and waterproof MDF platforms – Usually MDF is bad news, but the coating on these boards allow them to be exposed to moisture. I just wouldn’t push my luck and ever leave these boards out in the rain.
- Built with carrying handles and carry bags.
- COMPACT FOLD-UP DESIGN These boards can fold out for play, and then fold up for
storage. And since they are made from aluminum, they are lighter than a wooden set of cornhole boards. This means they are easier to store, transport in your vehicle and be carried by one person. - While they do make a version of this board that is 3 feet x 2 feet for just under $70, you’ll want to go with the official tournament size of 4 feet x 2 feet. It’s about $30 more, but it is worth it.
- Cornhole Association regulation size (4 feet x 2 feet) cornhole boards
for authentic game play, 8 all-weather regulation bean bags, and rules.
The bags that come with this set are not the best. You’ll probably only get 20-30 games or so out of them before the start to fall apart. Check out some of the bags we recommend in our Official Cornhole Bag Buyers Guide.
==> Check Price on Amazon <==
While they don’t offer Amazon Prime shipping, they do offer Free Shipping.
And while the GoSports foldable board doesn’t seem to be available any longer, this view of it is very close to what you get with the F2C set.
**WARNING – CORNHOLE ALERT!**
When you are shopping around Amazon, we recommend you avoid the Sport Festival Regulation set.
This set is just “OK”.
It is somewhat inexpensive…and unfortunately it is also cheap and low quality. Spend a little more money and get a set that is made from 2x4s and good birch plywood….like the Victory Tailgate boards coming up next!
Victory Tailgate Unfinished Cornhole Boards
Victory Tailgate makes some really nice high quality boards here in the USA.
Don’t be turned off or intimidated by the boards not being finished!
First off, you can play for years and years on unfinished boards if you care for them properly (don’t leave them out in the rain). My first set of boards were homemade and unfinished. They lasted for many years!
When you are ready to take you unfinished boards to the next level you can paint them or apply board decal wraps.
So, what do we like about these boards?
- They are made and assembled in USA
- Regulation Size 4 feet x 2 feet
- Tournament Grade Construction – these boards are the real deal.
- Includes a set of all corn filled cornhole bags
- Folding legs for easy storage
There are a lot of good reviews on Amazon, and I’ve done the research on this company…they stand behind their product.
==> Check Price on Amazon <==
While they don’t offer Amazon Prime shipping, they do offer Free Shipping.
** IMPORTANT NOTE **
If you visit Victory Tailgate you will find they have a WIDE selection of board designs. You’ll also find that if you order directly from their website, you’ll pay more.
My recommendation is that you find a Victory Tailgate design you like through Amazon!
==> Check out All -Victory Tailgate- Products on Amazon <==
All American Tailgate
These guys are a newcomer to the scene…but based on their product offering you wouldn’t know it.
They have a licensing deal with the NCAA, and over 1000 unique designs to choose from. There cornhole boards are build from high quality 2×4 and standard 1/2 inch birch plywood…and right here in the USA.
Their least expensive offering is the following unfinished wood cornhole set does not come with any bags. Not a big deal, since you can pickup quality bags and still be getting the best deal around.
Amazon offers free shipping – but not Prime. But who care right? The money you save on shipping can be used to buy you some nice bags!
If you are looking for the highest quality set of boards, that are ready to finish the way you want, then you can’t go wrong with the All American non painted cornhole boards.

Dicks Sporting Goods
The only reason I am mentioned Dicks Sporting Goods here is that they have a pretty good deal going on right now.
Buy One Get One 50% Off Select Outdoor Games $19.99 or More
To participate, you must add 2 qualifying products to your cart. Your discount can only be applied to qualifying products and is automatically calculated in your cart.
It looks like this discount is going to end in the next week (they often extend the offer…so be on the look at for that.)
This deal ONLY makes sense if you were already planning on getting two cornhole boards sets OR if you find some other fun outdoor games that you want to purchase (Dicks has a pretty good selection).
If you do end up going this route, I recommend going with the Wild Sports Authentic Cornhole Board set.
Features
- Complete Cornhole game set
- Tournament grade construction with solid wood
- Includes 2 regulation size 2’W x 4’L cornhole board
- Foldable legs offers convenient storage and transportation
- Comes with 8 all-weather 16 ounce bean bags in blue (4) and red (4)
- Manufacturer’s 90-day warranty
If you can take advantage of the buy one, get one 50% this could be a good way to go!
The Cornhole’s Recommendation
If you want to spend under $120 to get a set of cornhole boards, you can’t beat the All American Tailgate boards offered through Amazon.
==> All American Tailgate Unfinished Cornhole Set on Amazon <==
If you are feeling adventurous, and want to save a little more money, I would go with the F2C board. They are a little different in that they are aluminum…but they are cheaper and lighter.
==> F2C Cornhole Set on Amazon <==
I’m of course a little biased, and order everything through Amazon. (Full disclosure – The Cornhole is an Amazon Affiliate partner which means we get a small % percentage of any purchase they send their way. This does NOT increase the price you will pay…it’s the same price as if you just navigated to Amazon on your own.)
We hope you found this post helpful. If you have a recommendation for a lower priced option, please share it with us and we’ll update this post.
Now, go buy your cornhole set before summer is officially here!
This post contains affiliate links, which means boarddecals.com will earn a commission if you decide to purchase anything through my link. The commission we earn, at no extra cost to you, helps us run this website . For more information, visit my disclosure page.
Thanks for the information–and for the reminder that summer is now here and I need to come up with a plan pronto! It’s helpful that you pointed out that the idea of building your own cornhole boards sounds great. And perhaps it is a good option for the more ambitious among us. But, as you say, you probably are indeed looking at a good $50 of material to make a quality set. So thanks for the comparative links of what to look for and where to shop!
You are very welcome!
Building your own boards is a fun experience. They can also be a source of pride…”Yeah, I made that!”. But for most of us, we don’t have the tools or time. Spending $50 more to get a cornhole set that is ready to play…is almost always worth the money.
And if you still desire something you can be proud of, I recommend purchased an unfinished set of boards. And then use them as your blank canvas! You can paint/stain them, add custom decal wraps, or add vinyl stickers to make it totally unique.
So excited that summer is here. I hope you have many opportunities to get outside and enjoy the nice weather, and play some cornhole!
This looks really cool. I remember playing this game as a kid in PE class. It was always so fun and competitive. Plus i was really good at it too.
Me and my family are planning a family reunion and were looking for games to play and I think this would be an awesome addition to the list.
I am definitely sending this article to my other family members. Where is the best place to buy this?
If you are planning a family reunion, cornhole has got to be on your list of games to play. It’s competitive, easy to learn, and anyone can play. Everyone from the grand kids to grandparents can get in on the action!
And if you were really good in school, here is your chance to show off in front of the family! 😉
I’ve found that the best place to purchase cornhole boards (sets) is through Amazon. This is especially true if you have a Prime account (although some vendors do not allow Prime, so you have to pay shipping). There are a couple of posts on this site recommending which cornhole sets to purchase. In most cases, Amazon is always the best place. You can even find vendors on Amazon that will create a custom design for you!.
Anyway, I recommend starting at Amazon. (As an affiliate member of Amazon I do get a small % of all sales. This does not impact the price you pay.) And to show I am not biased towards Amazon, if you don’t see what you like on Amazon. Check out Cornhole Antics or All American Tailgate for some more ideas.
Thanks for sharing us with your family members. Have a wonderful summer and family reunion!
Great site! I’m 45 years old and just went in my first cornhole tournament to raise money for my high school wrestling team. I really never played. Not even at tailgate parties. I went 2-2 in the tournament and I think I’m hooked. I like to add to my phys ed program and camp.
I love your advice and the different prices and option to build.
Hello there Michael!
It sounds like we have another cornhole convert!!! I love to hear that. Cornhole is such a fun game!
So awesome that you will be introducing cornhole in your phys ed program and camp!
On of the great things about cornhole is that it is so easy to learn…and anyone, of any age, shape or form and play and enjoy the game. And it really is affordable. Speaking of affordable…I just did a post on an All Weather Cornhole set that would be perfect for a camp or program where kids are going to be abusing the boards. Get a complete set for less than $100. If you get a chance, please check it out!
If there is anything you would like to see reviewed, or just have questions about cornhole, please contact us.
Love the information on different prices and how much to spend. I also like the option to build my own. I just played in a cornhole tournament last week for the first time ever and I’m hooked. It was a lot of fun! I plan to add it to my phys ed and camp program. best of luck to you!
Thanks for stopping by The Cornhole! We are so happy to hear that you found the information to be useful. One of our missions here is to provide you with reviews and recommendations..saving you time and money. We want to make sure you make the best possible purchase when it comes to cornhole.
There is nothing like playing in a cornhole tournament to get you hooked! There are some really good players out there right? I can remember the first cornhole tournament I went to (thinking I was pretty good)…many of the players there were dropping 2-3 cornholes every round! Still, even when you lose it is a lot of fun to play and compete.
That is so cool that you are considering adding cornhole to your phys ed and camp program. While the game does require some equipment, its not much. And the game is so easy (and safe) to play…anyone can do it.
Hope you have a wonderful summer!
What a totally underrated game! When someone first approached me about playing…Weeell let’s just say I was a bit skeptical. Once I started though I was hooked. People try to equate it with horseshoes but you can’t because it is a different skill set. Having said all that from a soapbox please allow me to comment on your article…Awesome. I am so happy I ran across it. Being in the market for a new set, this was very informative in my decision making process. Once I’ve decided I will be sure to come back to get one of these. Thanks!
I have to agree with you! Cornhole (bean bag toss) is a totally underrated, under-appreciated, and under-loved game! Spread the word!
There is way more strategy in cornhole than horseshoes. The game is generally more fluid, and in my opinion, more enjoyable than horseshoes.
One example of strategy is “blocking”. You can place a bag in front of the hole, making it very difficult for the opponent to get a cornhole. However, your opponent can modify their throw in two ways to counter the block: High arching toss when the bag comes straight down into the hole, or the low and fast toss where the bag hits the front of the board and then cartwheels over the blocking bag into the hole.
You can’t really do anything like that with horseshoes.
Anyway, so glad you found this post to be helpful. Best of luck with your new cornhole set. I’m sure you will enjoy many hours of fun.
Playing cornhole is one of my favorite games to play while tailgating and at BBQ’s. I have never had the courage to try and build my own set, but I am encouraged. I am not great when it comes to building things.
How would you rate the difficulty of building a set for myself. What would you say is the best cornhole set on the market for the money?
Hey there Jordan.
Cornhole is the BEST game for BBQ’s and tailgating!
Even if you have very limited skills when it comes to wood working, you can build your own cornhole boards. On a scale of 1-10, where 10 is the most difficult thing you could build out of wood, I would say that cornhole boards are a 2.
There are only a few cuts to make, no fancy corners or gluing…and wood putty and paint fixes almost all mistakes! If you have the tools (circular saw, drill, jigsaw) you should try and make a set. This is especially true if you have some 2×4’s and 1/2-3/4 inch plywood laying around.
As I have mentioned in many of my posts, whenever I start talking about building your own boards, I always point out the cost/time ratio. It basically cost about $50 more to purchase a board already made, then to purchase the supplies and make your own. So you have to ask yourself…Is it worth $50 more to be able to play cornhole in a couple of days. Or do I want to spend a couple of days building and painting my own boards, and save $50?
In most cases, it alway makes sense to spend a little more money and get a professionally made set of boards. Plus you have all kinds of design options to choose from!
Personally, I think the Victory Tailgate boards are some of the best. With the 4th of July coming up fast, I would recommend the US Vintage Flag Cornhole Set. You get high quality boards, 8 cornhole bags, cornhole bag carry pack for under $200. Another reason I like Victory Tailgate is that they offer Amazon Prime shipping. So, you’ll save about $30 on shipping if you have Prime.
Thanks for stopping by The Cornhole. I hope you have a fun summer filled with lots of cornhole, beer and BBQ!
Thanks you on your recommendations on some less expensive cornhole boards. I know that those $300 sets are nice to look at but at the same time are not a requirement. I tend to be a little tight with my money at times but love a good cornhole game so I am going to dig a little deeper and break down the ones that you recommended in this article to see which one would suite me best. Thanks for giving everyone a few options to pick from!
Hello Nate! Glad to hear you found this post helpful!
I’m right there with you man. I would love to spend $300+ on a cornhole set…but I know the abuse they are going to take. And for me, I would rather purchase two nice cornhole sets for the price of one really, really nice set (that I would probably baby and not let others use).
It seems like when we get together, there are always people waiting to get to play. Having an extra set (or two or three) means more game play for everyone! That means more to me than having the best cornhole boards.
Hope you get the perfect cornhole set for you! Enjoy summer and get out there and play some cornhole!
I love cornhole so much! Do you know who came up with it? They’re pretty much a genius in my eyes. lol
Thanks for putting this list together. I think I would opt to spend a little more money for a set that lasts longer, but I love having the less expensive options too.
In fact, the options I REALLY love are the unfinished ones. I can imagine my daughter and getting out some paints and really making those uniquely ours. We would have so much fun doing that.
I really appreciate all these options. I didn’t even know there were so many until now. Thank you!!!
OMG – I love cornhole too!
And, I came up with the game of cornhole…and yes, I am a genius! OK, so it wasn’t really me who created one of the greatest games in the world…but I do have some theories on who did! Check out my Game History write up and see for yourself.
Bare boards are a great place to start. You daughter could create something that the entire family will treasure for year and years to come! How to Paint Your Cornhole Boards
You are so welcome! I hope you and your family are looking forward to summer and lots of fun outside…that includes cornhole!
You ARE a genius! (Even if you didn’t come up with cornhole! lol)
Thanks for the additional links. I’ll check them out!
Thanks for stopping by The Cornhole Christina….genius…maybe. 🙂
Anyway, there are a lot of inexpensive options out there for cheap cornhole boards. If you are an Amazon Prime member, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal online that at Amazon.
Hope you get a chance to get outside this summer and play some cornhole!
Hello,
The American Tailgates seems to satisfy all my want, I won’t hesitate to purchase that. I REALLY need a Cornhole board and I’m so confident in your post and the various reviews you have done on the different cornhole. You have done a great job putting this write-up together.
Thanks very much
Thanks Salim.
The American Tailgates boards are really high quality…you can’t go wrong.
Summer is coming soon, so get one ASAP and start practicing. 🙂
Have fun out there!
Cornhole is such an interesting game that at some point in time I couldn’t do without it. You just made me remember the sweet old memories, I think this is a perfect article for me at the moment as I will be hosting my old high school mate over the weekend and I will surely add this to our list of games.
So glad to hear I was able to bring back some good memories. I too have many fond memories of BBQ, family and cornhole!
Cornhole is the ultimate game for any kind of reunion or gathering. It’s one of those games where the crowd can get into, and everyone is excited for their turn! We always end up doing a tournament (Check out How To Run a Cornhole Tournament) at our reunions, with the winner getting a little trophy and some price money. It’s fun and there is ALWAYS a lot of friendly competition.
I hope you and your mates have a chance to make some new memories this summer over a friendly game of cornhole.
All the best!
Well this game take me way back wen we were in school but their very big difference in that this one looks more mordern and it can be played by everyone. ilike the idea very much and it is thing I am ready to import back home for our family reunion and when I am free with my family have some fun their.
Hello again Charles. Glad to see you stuck around boarddecals.com to learn more about cornhole.
There are a ton of resources here for anyone looking to get started in the game of cornhole. If you don’t find what you are looking for, or maybe have some questions about the game, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Share the game of cornhole!! When you do, please come back with some pictures!!!
I like this information though I have never played a corn hole since my life and I will love to purchase it. I will love to be playing it with my family. I will love to purchase a high quality one so that it can last very well for me. When I purchase my desired corn hole Board, I may still feel like to construct one by myself simply because I like the power of creativity. I may still have to construct mine just for pride. But constructing a corrnhole by myself won’t hinder me from purchasing one from Amazon. It may sound crazy but I just derive fun in doing crazy things. Haha. It’s good I came across this information.
Hey there and welcome to The Cornhole. From the sound of things, looks like we might be turning you into a cornhole fan! We always love the chance to bring someone new (and especially and entire family) into the cornhole fold!
Cornhole is a super fun and easy to learn game. Check out How to Play Cornhole for more info.
Building your own boards can be very rewarding. My recommendation though is to start out with some quality manufactured boards. Learn the game, get your friends and family involved…and then build your own boards. Everyone will be more impressed and you can use the purchased boards as a reference when building your own.
Hope you get a chance to get your board and play this summer. Welcome to the world of cornhole!
You are right, F2C does make a nice aluminum cornhole set. I’ve been impress with the quality and the reviews on Amazon are really good. Its not a traditional cornhole board, but it plays really well…and doesn’t kill your back when you have to carry it down to the beach! You can check out this set here https://amzn.to/43UEDo1
