Year Round Fun: The Tabletop Cornhole Game!

Tabletop cornhole bean bag game set

Here at The Cornhole we love everything about the game of cornhole.

The game always brings back great memories of summer days filled with BBQ, beer and great friends. And when fall comes around, the boards get stored in the garage. That is of course until that rare occasion when the sun breaks free from the clouds…then we rush to pull the boards and bags out and play as much as we possibly can.Cornhole, BBQ, Beer and Friends

For those of us living in the Pacific NW, those sunny days can be far and few between. Since we can’t play outside during the rainy days, we’ve had to find ways to bring the game indoors.

One of my favorite ways is with the Tabletop Cornhole set. If you don’t have a lot of space, and need to play inside, this is the best (and safest) way to get your cornhole fix.

I’m going to do a quick review of some of my favorite tabletop board sets in this post.

Honey, I Shrunk the Cornhole Set!

Playing with the tabletop cornhole game definitely makes you feel…well…big. These boards and bags are only about 20% the size of the real deal, so they end up making you feel like a giant.

Cornhole Table Top Game Set
You are a giant! Look how big your hands are!

Other than helping you get the rules down, these miniature sets won’t really help you too much with your game. But who cares right? They are a ton of fun, and beat the heck out of doing work.

And they are prefect if you are working on your next movie about a cornhole champion who accident eats some radioactive corn and grows into a giant. This could be the plot for the CORNHOLE: THE MOVIE sequel.

Great Gift Idea

A tabletop cornhole board set is the gift that keeps on giving. Year round!

The tabletop cornhole game can be played at your desk, on the road, at parties…if you have four feet of open space, you can play!

For well under $20 you be giving a gift that shows you really care and that you really want the recipient to enjoy life to the fullest.  And how can they do that without a tiny little cornhole set?  They can’t.

That is why the tabletop cornhole game is the perfect gift.  Because, for the price, nothing on this earth shows how much you care for someone, than the gift of game…in the form of bean bags you toss at boards with small holes in them.  It’s almost poetic.

You know what?

These also make a great gift for yourself. Why not treat yourself…you know you deserve it. (You might also want to pick up another six-pack…you deserve that as well.)

Tabletop Cornhole Game

Of all the tabletop cornhole game sets I have seen, this set is my favorite. With shipping, you are looking at about $25 which is still very reasonable and well within the “gift” price range.

The surface of the board can be easily painted. Or you can add your cool vinyl decals to custom it and make it your own.

Here are the reasons I like this set so much:

  • It’s super cute and can easily be painted.
  • The boards and bags are pretty good quality.
  • You get two (2) boards and eight (8) bags.

As an Amazon Prime member I love getting free shipping. Unfortunate the seller of this tabletop cornhole game set doesn’t provide Prime…so, I’m kind of stuck with paying for shipping.

Tabletop Football Field Theme Cornhole Game

You are not going to find a better deal than this little set.

There are a few things that I don’t like about this set…but for the price, I can’t complain too much.

  • Boards are made from MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). This stuff is OK until it gets wet…so don’t ever spill your drink or leave it outside.
  • You get six (6) bean bags (three (3) red / three (3) blue) – Regulation sets include eight (8) bags.
  • Bags are not very high quality.
  • Set only includes one (1) board – Regulation sets include two boards.

Now, for the price you could purchase two sets and have everything you need (plus a few extra bags). But as a gift, that is going to sit on someone’s desk at work, you’ll really only need one board.

Viva Sol Mini Bean Bag Game

Of the boards reviewed here, this is the most expensive set…but it is the highest quality.

The set is made from all wood parts with a really nice walnut finish. They look (and actually smell) really good.

Here are a few things that I like about this set:

  • Boards are made from real wood with a walnut finish (while you could paint them…why would you?).
  • You get six (8) bean bags (sadly they are pastel blues).
  • Bags are high quality.

Just a few things I don’t like with this set:

  • The wood veneer, over time can start to peel off. I would expect this to happen only after a lot of use…but which time you probably got your money’s worth out it.
  • The hole is big, and not at the correct scale. Really, not a big deal for me. It’s not like I am training using this set or holding tournaments. Honestly, the bigger hole makes it more fun for everyone….more cornholes!

Conclusion

I hope you have found this review to be helpful and that you order your tabletop cornhole game set today!

When you do get you set, I recommend doing the following to ensure you set lasts as long as possible.

  • Check the bag seams. The stitching on these bags are notoriously bad. I recommend getting a needle and tread, and doubling up the stitching. This will make the bags last a lot longer, and prevent the guts from spilling out during play.
  • Add rubber feet. On a smooth surface, the boards will tend to slide around when hit by a bag. You can prevent this my attached some rubber feet to the bottom of the board. Don’t have rubber feet? Cut up a large rubber band and glue to the bottom of the board.

Thanks for stopping by The Cornhole. If you end up getting one of these tabletop cornhole games, please drop us a comment (and maybe share a picture of two) and let us know how it is working out for you.

Now, get outside inside and play some cornhole. (Or get outside if you are finally starting to get some nice weather.)

  1. This is so fun! We have our own cornhole boards and play outside every weekend. I cannot imagine playing with the little boards. It’s taken me enough practice to be skillful at the regular sized game.

I love the pic on how you look like a giant with the small cornhole bags lol. This article did make me consider on buying this as a fun Christmas gift because we won’t be able to take out regular sized cornhole boards on the road with us.

    1. Hi Traci,

We like playing with these smaller boards from time to time…and the younger kids really love the smaller boards.

To be honest, your skills on the full size boards don’t really translate to the smaller boards…you kind of have to learn a new style of throwing for these smaller boards.  But it’s still fun!

These smaller boards would make an excellent Christmas gift (I love how it’s not even July and you are already thinking about Christmas!)  They are much easier to take on the road with you.

Thanks for stopping by The Cornhole!  I hope you and your family have a wonderful summer full of laughs, BBQ and cornhole!

  2. I have played that game about a billion times but I never knew it as Cornhole.
When I was a kid the camping ground we went to had them there. We used to call it bean bag golf; I don’t know why.
I hope these sorts of old school games don’t die out the same way that Pacman has.
Where did the name cornhole come from?

    1. Remy,

Thanks for leaving a comment on this post!

I have definitely heard the game called “bean bag toss”, but never “bean bag golf”.  I wonder…did you guys have boards setup like a course and use golf scoring rules?

Check out the History of Cornhole for information on where the name came from.  Basically, you had some corn filled bag that you tried to toss through a hole….CORN + HOLE = Cornhole.  🙂

I hope you get a chance to get out this summer and camp, BBQ and play cornhole.  (Even if you call it bean bag golf!)

  3. I think you have a really cool site and this is a fun concept.
Cornhole has become extremely popular and who wouldnt want one like this.
It is great to find a site with fun and interesting subject fun.
I think I might just buy one for myself and one for my brother.

    1. Hey there Mark.  Thank you for the wonderful complements about the website.  We really appreciate the feedback.

Cornhole popularity doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down any time soon!  One goal we have here at The Cornhole is to spread the word about this simple and fun game to the rest of the world.  Everyone should get to enjoy this game.  And we don’t really even care what you call it: cornhole, baggo, bags, bean bag toss, corn toss or even dadhole (yes, some people call this game dad-hole).

Please do buy a cornhole set…you won’t regret the purchase.  You can get started, everything you need, for under $100 if you go with the Baggo Set or the regulation cornhole set from Sports Festival.

  4. Hi there,

Bootsey from England enjoyed your article this game looks like you can so much fun with family and friends.

Personally, I have never of heard of it, but its something I know I’ll enjoy playing. I play lawn bowls so I know about good hand-eye coordination and this seems the same is needed.

Going to speak to my club committed and ask to purchase a table for something to play in the Winter months down our club, as our bowling season is only 5 months a year during the Summer months.

Be great to start a Cornhole league against other members or other clubs we have in our area.

Looking forward to playing this soon.

    Bootsey.

    1. Bootsey from England!  I can’t tell you how happy we are to see visitors from outside of the United States.

One of the goals of The Cornhole is to spread the game of cornhole around the world.  Looks like we are making some progress. 🙂

I think you have a wonderful idea!  Adding cornhole to your club as a game to play inside, when you can’t get out to lawn bowl, is fantastic.  And as you eluded to, the skill set is very similar between the two games.

If you do end up getting the club to agree and you start playing cornhole, please come back and tell us about it!

Good luck Bootsey and than you for stopping by The Cornhole!
